One of the most unique features of the TaylorMade R9 Irons is something you can't see—a chamber behind the face of the club that is filled with an almost-weightless foam and a silicone shock absorber positioned directly behind the center of the face in the 3- through 6-irons. While the foam and shock absorber help to soak up unwanted vibration, TaylorMade claims the design also leaves the face more free to flex at impact and rebound—like a thin-faced driver—for added distance.

Like the r7, the clubface of the TaylorMade R9 Irons uses the inverted cone technology on the inner side of the clubface for consistent ball speed on off-center hits. Using that as their foundation, the new R9 irons long and mid irons were designed separately from the short irons to optimize performance in each club.

The TaylorMade R9 Irons offers distance and control-enhancing technologies in a classic shape. The Velocity-Control Chamber in 3-6 irons provide increased consistency, ball speed and power while the innovative shock-absorption system in 3-6 irons give a satisfying feel and sound.

A deep undercut cavity and heel-toe weighting in the short-irons allow for increased forgiveness and the expertly beveled sole in every iron reduces turf resistance and promotes crisp contact.

Velocity-Control Chamber (VCC) and wrap around face in 3-6 irons deliver a significant increase in COR to promote distance.

VCC foam, silicone shock absorber and vibration-quieting badge all work together to prevent vibration and promote great feel and sound.

Optimized Inverted Cone Technology provides a 10% improved COR zone for more distance control.
